i am becoming anti social in my older state. i hate making small talk in the morning on the elevator with strangers.

ha… good thought. perhaps you are right… but i don’t have to make obligatory “how are you?… “i’m fine – how are you…” statements on my blog. and i know many people who are usually anti-social (in the traditional sense) that have blogs – simply because they like the anonymity and “mask” of it. they don’t have to approach someone or be able to hold a conversation to get their thoughts expressed. the fear of rejection or not being accepted is diminished by the safety blanket of a screen and keyboard. so i do think it’s possible to be a blogger and to be anti-social (as far as traditional interaction goes) at the same time.
i view my blog as a release rather than a social conduit, especially since my blogs, for the most part, are not highly visited. i enjoy those that find me, such as yourself, though, and actually have a healthy exchange and “social life” with the people around me. most of my close friends would probably even describe me as outgoing and friendly. and i typically am – it’s just that certain situations bother me more now than they used to. and since i feel that prick, i attach labels to it. maybe they’re valid, or maybe i just have “off days.”

Isn’t it a bit hard to be anti-social and have a blog? I would say that it is other-social.
